Instead of casting the same old convert trap, why not convert auras and enchantments? I'd like to see what others have to say or add to this before posting my ideas. Any ideas welcome! :D
I wrote something like this in the forum long ago. The idea was to allow players to have their spells converted to a different school after casting rather than before. A conversion blade would do the trick quite well. It would take a turn to place, and still wouldn't help much if say a storm had a storm dispel already placed before putting up the conversion blade but could still help quite a lot (storm players could now attack bosses that disallow conversions and have storm resist).
