just a quick question is life the only school that heals other players.if so does it still have the ability to heal other players as a secondary school.also do minions have the ability to heal also are there treasure cards to be found for healing and casting minions.lastly can you cast minions as a secondary school for myth or only a primary.
sorry for all the simple questions but i'm kinda new to the game and don't have enough game time yet to have come across all the treasure cards, school strategies and spells.

1. Life as a primary school does give the ability to heal other players, but is not the only one that can. Balance has one that is called Helping hands and Death also has a heal that can be used on other players. If you take life as a secondary, you can still heal others with sprite, dryad, and satyr. Rebirth is not available in the secondary.

2. Some minions have the ability to cast a DOT heal that is called sprite.

3. There are treasure cards that are self heal and also the DOT sprite. These cards can be purchased at Wizard City and Krokotopia Libraries. Occasionally, you will get them as a drop.

4. If you have a minion treasure card, regardless of school, you can cast it.

Life wizards (Theurgists) are the only ones that outright specialises in healing other players (and themselves). However, by taking Life as a secondary school, you can obtain two healing spells; Sprite and Satyr. Dryad and Rebirth are treasure card/school only spells, unfortunately.

As Goldendragon said, Death and Balance have their own healing spells, and all schools obtain a self-use Fairy spell over the course of the game (Life gets the same one, only it heals for 420 points and can be used on anyone).

You can, however, get healing in many other ways. Some gear has Satyr as a card (the boots Striders of the Verge, for one); you can get treasure cards for healing; you can obtain a pet with the Spritely talent - which randomly will cast a Sprite on you - and finally, there is the Polymorph Treant spell, which will give you access to healing spells (including Dryad) for six rounds.

Some minions can heal you, as well. The Sprite Guardian, for one, can cast a multitude of healing spells, and I believe the Helpful Mander can do the same. However, note that minions are fickle and unpredictable.

so basically there are three schools i may use to heal others even in the secondary which are balance, death & life.
and how about minions are they available to train in myth in the secondary or only in the primary?
and as i've been reading other posts i see that in just about every school you do get a minion to use at a certain point.
thanks for the info!

You do not get the minion of your secondary school. As the previous poster stated, yes to all the other questions. I have a life wizard.

About half of the spells available to a wizard at any given time, are School-Only (though you can find them as treasure cards). Dryad, for instance, can only be learnt by Theurgists. The School-specific Blades and Traps are school-only. Minions are also school-only.

You can visit the teachers in Ravenwood (or in the Balance School in Krokotopia) to see what spells you can learn.

Note that you can pick up spells from other places than Ravenwood (colossus boulevard is one such place) - but even then, there are some of those that are only available to a specific school.

Both Helping Hands (Balance heal spell) and Sacrifice (Death heal spell) are school-only spells. So you would not be able to learn them if either school were trained as a secondary school.

I would suggest waiting until you get to Celestia and learn Treant, as opposed to learning life as a secondary school. Treant only takes one training point to learn AND you can utilize your power pips when casting the Treant spells.

Before you are able to learn Treant you can use treasure cards to heal other members of your team, if needed.

thanks for all the info.i was more concerned with training in a secondary school with group healing powers.going into battle with some of my wizards i like to have the ability to heal friends with a secondary school.
minions are not a big deal, just trying to get as much info on scools as a secondary school before i start training them.
my six wizards i have created right now all just under level 10 are

fire,ice,storm,balance,myth,& life

so the way i see it

life/? = group/friend heal
myth/balance = group/friend heal
balane/myth = group/friend heal no myth minion
storm/death = group/friend heal
ice or fire/life = group/friend heal
i realize all these spells have to be trained for somewhere down the line.
sorry for all the questions just trying to get all my facts straight before i start spending my training points and get too far in the game.

thanks guys sorry if i'm being a pain just really new to this awesome game!

magic - I wanted to point out again, the heal spell that both balance and death have cannot be learned unless it is your primary school.

The only way you can learn heal-other spells as a secondary school is to train in either Life or to learn Treant (my suggestion).

The reason I strongly recommend that you wait and just learn Treant is because when healing outside of your primary school, you will waste power pips. Satyr could potentially waste 4 power pips, which would translate to 8 pips in your school of focus. Since all of your wizards are currently low levels, you haven't really had to worry about power pips. However, once you level your wizards, you will find that they will mostly get power pips (to enable you to quickly use your high level spells) and you won't want to use spells outside your school of focus.

I think you will also discover that some schools have enough difficulty keeping themselves healthy at lower levels (specifically fire and storm) without also trying to heal other members of their teams.

My suggestion for all of your wizards, besides ice, is to do the following:

- train Ice up to Tower Shield
- train Reshuffle
- [Storm/Ice/Fire] train Elemental Blades
- [Life/Myth] train Spirit Blades
- train Stun Shield

That's it until you reach Celestia. Once you reach Celestia, start training in the new schools. They will be much more beneficial than spells from other secondary schools that you will never use because it would waste your power pips (which you need at high levels in order to win your battles).

You might want to focus on one wizard for the time being and see how your wizard changes through the different levels. That way you can better judge how you want to proceed on your other wizards. (The expense to retrain is pretty outrageous at higher levels.)

thank-you now i fully understand.point well taken with healing others as well to waste pips on healing another player is a waste of pips unless you are running through the spiral together.
thanks again for being so informative and more so patient with a beginner!

Hi,

Gelwyn answered this, but I want to make sure you really understand what these school combinations can and can not do.

Life/? = extensive group heal, extensive friend heal, and extensive self heal.

Myth/Balance = no group heal, no friend heal, very limited self heal. Your only healing spell will be the Pixie (2 pips for 400 health). You will have four minions, however, and at least one of them (the Cyclops) will cast a Sprite healing spell now and then.

Balance/Myth = No group heal. Limited friend heal (helping hands), moderate self heal. You will have two balance minions, but no myth minions. In my experience, the Balance spectral minions will sometimes cast a Sprite healing spell. Training in Myth as a second school won't do much for a Balance wizard. My Balance trained Life up to Sprite and that combined with Helping Hands made her almost as good as a Life wizard for healing friends.

Storm/Death = no group heal, no friend heal, very limited self heal. The death spells that can heal you will cost you 2-4 pips (4-8 power pips as you advance) which is very costly. For all that, you will only get back about 60-250 health for yourself only. Meanwhile, you could just use your Pixie for 2 pips and get a guaranteed 400 health for yourself. Also, as far as using a second school for healing either yourself or others, it would be far more sensible for you to train in Life up to Sprite and give yourself or a friend a 300 heal for only 1 pip.

Ice or Fire/Life = no group heal, moderate friend heal, moderate self heal. You will be able to easily heal a friend with a Sprite. For much higher pip cost, you can provide a Satyr (800 health).

Clothing you can buy with Crowns (and sometimes you win them in duels!) may come with various healing spells. A hat in Wizard City provides a Sprite. Boots in Marleybone provide a Satyr, and a robe in Marleybone provides Helping Hands. Sometimes, just having one copy of a spell like this is enough to help you or a friend out, rather than training in Life.

I do agree with Gelwyn, who told you to pick one of your new wizards and start training in that one school. Get a feel for the game by playing one wizard all the way through and finding out what that school can do.

The easiest "starter wizards" are Life, Balance, and Fire, (in my opinion). Life and Balance are fairly straight-forward in terms of the spells they use. They don't fizzle as often as other schools, and they can heal themselves and others quite capably. Fire fizzles often, but the power of its spells makes up for that. Especially if you train in Life up to Sprite on a Fire wizard, you will find that the game comes easily to you.

Everyone has a different opinion on which schools/spells make the best combination. :-) You will have to find your own way, because it greatly depends on your main school and your fighting style. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your days as a student of Ravenwood.

Bookshelvings, I have the Helpful Mander equipped in my balance deck and have never seen it use any kind of healing spell. I don't use spectral minion at all. I would like to have this bit of information verified if anyone knows for sure.

Also you are correct about Striders of the Verge coming with a Satyr. There is also a robe called Vestment of Assistance that has the Helping Hands heal card. Both the boots and robe can be purchased in the shops in Marleybone. BUT they are CROWNS items. These items used to be availabe from Zeke, but when they took those things away from him, the only place now unless changed is Marleybone.
