Whats the difference between clicking "Log off" at the charecter selection screen and clicking the x button in the corner of the screen if you have the fullscreen off?

There is none, except if you log off with the book then you can access a different character rather than logging back on.

I don't see a "Log off" button at the character selection screen.

Clicking the "Exit" button will allow the program to exit normally. If you click the "X", you're hard-closing the program. This may (rarely) corrupt some files.

On the game screen, clicking "Exit" will close the game session normally and save the wizard's position and stats. Clicking on "X" during a live session may cause the game to treat it as a disconnect, which might send the wizard character back to the common area for that world. As above, it can (rarely) probably cause file corruption.
