I am not the pet hatching genius I thought I was.

I think I just got lucky before.

I want to make a PvP pet that is all defensive.

I made a pure Damage pet—nothing but damage. Every Balance Wizard loves her. With right gear, this pet makes me almost like a Storm Wizard. I call her my “cruel pet.” Great for questing, not so great for PvP.

Then I made an almost pure Ward Pet. She has Proof, Defy, Ice and Death Wards, a Storm-Proof Jewel and…a Balance Damage trait.

At level 130, with the normal gear, my Damage + Pierce is already good enough.

I want to make a pet that has nothing but resist and wards. I want Spell Proof, Spell Defy, Ice Ward, Balance Ward, then another Ward.

So I hatched ward pets from the Kiosk.

On Teen, they got Derby Talents with silly names. At Adult, they got more Derby Talents.

Question: Do the Derby Talents take away from potential slots from PvP talents?

Should I just give up on any pet that shows Derby Talents?

Under the PEDIGREE SCORE (DNA) is the TALENTS (red tab), click on it.
You have it on the DERBY (blue tab), that is why you see derby. All pets get talents and derby when trained.
