So how would I do this...

I want to take one pet for it's appearance and give it all the talents of a different pet.

So if I really like how one pet looks but it's talents are trash, how would I effectively breed all the talents of a different pet onto it? Is there a method or is hatching that pet with those talents just pure luck?

Not exactly sure. You may try Eloise Merryweather to see if she can do it. (She hangs out with Zeke.) Eloise also can switch out gear stats to an appearance. So try that!

It can be done, but it could take many hatches. Basically here is the sequence:

1) Take pet with stats on it and hatch with pet whose appearance you want.
2) If the pet hatch produces the pet with appearance, then train it to maybe ancient or epic to see what abilities manifest. At that time you might see that the new pet has one or two of the abilities of the pet with stats.
3) Hatch the new pet with the original pet with stats on it again. Then IF the hatch is the pet with appearance, repeat steps 2 and 3 over and over until eventually, your pet with appearance will get all the same stats as the original pet with stats.
4) What to do if the pet hatch does not produce a pet with appearance? This is the hard, and long and expensive part. Discard the newly hatched pet. Wait until your pet hatch timer resets, and then hatch the current appearance pet that you trained, with the original stats pet until it produces another pet with appearance.

The key here is to only train the pet with the appearance you want, and to keep hatching the current hatched appearance pets with the original stats pet. Over a number of hatches, the appearance pet will gradually get all the abilities of the stats pet. In my experience, it usually takes 7 to 10 pet hatches before this happens. You will need a lot of patience, gold, and pet snacks, but it will happen.

Common lore has it that seven hatches will transfer the stats from one pet over onto another. There is a method, and some of these guides will help you get started.

This first one is a general guide offered at Duelist101 that covers getting the gold and pet snacks you'll need.

Next in the Duelist guide is a discussion about hatching and getting talents on a pet.

And part three of the Duelist guide talks about the general tips of hatching/training/rinse-and-repeat to get the perfect pet.

This last guide is very old, written in 2011, but some of her general tips are still valid.

Alright 7-10 sounds good

I got my army of couch potatos ready and a good amount of mega snacks in storage. The extra TC's and snacks they drop can be sold for a nice amount of money so I got the funds for this too :D

"Common lore" is optimistic. You might get it that quickly, assuming repeated hatches with a "perfect" pet, but it could take more. If you care about the body type, that's another variable, so you've roughly doubled the required number of hatches, assuming the pets are equally 'sticky'. If the wanted talents are on a common pet but the target body is rare, it could be harder.

Don't train anything past adult until you think you have all the wanted talents transferred and the stats are high enough. Don't bother training at all if it's the wrong species or doesn't appear to be better than what you have. Good luck!
