The crack of death

In the circle of schools infront of Bartelby i have noticed a crack over the death symbol. Does this mean something bad to the death students? Or maybe because of the distruction of the death school from ravenwood? Post your theories here pls.

I think that happened when Malistare sank the Death School and left Wizard City
