So just what do you think Renee Wooften is up to in the Commons?

Adding a Sun Moon & Starbucks Coffee shop?

Tearing the whole thing down for a mini mall?

Adding a Casino?

What do you think?

Based on some hints KingsIsle has given us in the past, I'm going to guess that Wizard City is finally getting a 2018 graphics overhaul. And if so, I'm extremely excited. :)

Graphics overhaul? That would be awesome. I heard a Barber Shop is coming Wizard City. While Kingsisle is at it, Why not add a Teleport Hub Station and open the rest of Wizard City free to play to encourage all this new player
to buy a membership

It would be nice to see the trees around the spiral actually swaying in the wind for example, with leaves blowing off them (especially in Mooshu).

Hence,

I'm all in for a Graphics Overhaul. The game desperately needs it!

But, as Van hinted, it seems they will start with Wizard City and that is great. It'll give everyone (not just members) an opportunity to enjoy and partake with this new update.

If spells can be upgraded in terms of graphics and animations, then why not the very environment in which we as wizards constantly interact with?

Hello Fellow Wizard!

The Renee plans are very exciting, and no one really knows whats going to happen yet! Most likely they are going to improve the graphics, put up a new building, or completely redo the commons!

I am excited to see what new stuff is going to be added or improved.

I hear a lot of people mentioning a barber shop but I don't really understand what they mean, so if someone would be kind enough to explain, I would appreciate it! Like is the idea to have a store (like the Wizard City Dye Shop in the Shopping District) where people can dye their hair and change styles without having to pay Crowns for a new hairstyle/color in the Crown Shop?

It would be cool if they added more hairstyle options and included an option to pick highlights or colored streaks.
New hairstyle ideas:
Side braid
High ponytail (the Presto Chango is a low ponytail)
Bun
Variations to the girl's version of the Cha-Cha - longer length, shorter length, no bangs, wavy/curly, etc.

Also, some of the hairstyle color options in the Crown Shop are misleading. When buying a new hairstyle from the Crown Shop, the first row of colors to pick from are: dark brown, light brown, and black. Whenever I get the dark brown, it ends up looking like the light brown. Does anyone else have this problem?

One of the biggest things I'm afraid of, is how will these changes affect the minimum requirements? Not everyone plays Wizard101 on a huge gaming rig.

LOL, what great ideas
How about an outdoors bistro, with waiters to serve us.
And be able to actually SIT on a chair. Really, I am tired of standing, running, spinning and dancing, Can we
get a emote to actually SIT DOWN.
Got to give it to you Steven, love that Casino idea.

That is the trade off. My laptop was bought used 7 years ago. I'm not sure how old it is.

But it runs Wizards just fine.

It could very well be a portal/vehicle to a new location to wizard city or introducing a new concept that's way too large to be in the shopping district. After all, there are few doors left unused there.

Silly rumors?

OK...

Renee Wooften is scouting locations for a new Tv show called Wizards on the Run -- wizards that love to change realms. Why do they do it? Where do they go? What do they do when they get there? New reality show appearing soon.

(kidding)

No no! Renee Wooften is opening up a design contest. We can submit hairdo and clothing and boot and hat and hair accessory designs, as well as what we want the (rumored) new barber/beauty shop to look like! The new barber/beauty shop by the way, will be called Wizards Wow!

(kidding)

I heard by the cantina doorway, that Renee Wooften is actually here to tell us all about the new updates for the 10th anniversary, speculation about which can be found in the 10th anniversary thread begun by, I think, Area51 Alien? Who just happened to begin this thread as well. Hmmm....who is Area51 Alien, and does he have inside information? Does he know what really happened at Roswell? Stay tuned!

(kidding)

I have no idea why Renee Wooften is there, or why she stuck around more than one day, or why she's giving away free wands we can use to stitch to wands that have stats. But hey, thanks Renee!

Yes, Renee and I are <redacted> the <redacted> found at the <redacted>.

More news to come about the <redacted>. I cannot wait to <the remainder of this message has been deemed classified by the Official Wizard Legal Secrets (OWLS) Act>.

I agree. Many of us are playing with lower end specs and I know I won't be able to play if they up the requirements.

doesn't OWLS stand for ordinary wizarding levels?

I think she might be preparing the commons for a Barber Shop! and maybe like a tailor.

In the tailor you could choose if you wanted to wear the boy or girl variation of clothing. like I LOVE the armor boys get, but I have mostly girl chars, and don't feel like questing through the slowfest that's krok right now. I have a life wiz in krok, but I don't really quest on her cause of krok.

anyways, I think she might be preparing the commons for a barber shop, and/or a tailor!

If you can use the crowns shop, a lot of the packs give out armored gear. Avalon, I think it is, often drops suit of armor type of gear.

Wish there were some way to directly help people via this board. I'd help you quest through Krok. Good luck.

Why start that in the commons instead of the second half of Empyria?

Because a different team is working on that. KingsIsle has teams for different parts the game. Some moderate, some do bug fixes, some fix graphics, and some work on new content. New content teams are most likely split up even further. Some work on the new world (which takes over half a year I once heard them quote) and some work on new items that might be in the new world or mounts, etc.

So while one team is working on the Commons update, it doesn't mean the Empyrea update is on hold. Another team is constantly working on it.

I would assume that they're going to give a big graphical overhaul for Wizard City and maybe some other worlds. It would also be pretty cool if they did add suggestions that were given a long time ago, like a hair salon. And I know that it's a kids game and all and would probably never be implemented, this post made me enamored with the idea of a casino in Wizard City .

If they do give an overhaul, I just hope that it doesn't affect system requirements in any way. I end up playing on a laptop most of the time, and it's not exactly the best computer for gaming to say the least, but it runs Wiz just fine.

I am quite aware. I was talking to Area51Alien who chimed in the idea of new school. I in no way was complaining about the commons update as opposed to Empyrea, I was simply responding to the post I quoted. Area51Alien suggested it could be a new school, I was simply poking at the notion that it would be a bit odd to do that in Wizard City as new schools are introduced in new worlds as the pattern goes.

You know, I agree with this point, however I also think that KI realizes that. You have to realize that the Wizard101 player base is composed of all sorts of players, but yes, generally speaking I think most people are just running things on a regular computer. I don't forsee any issues especially if you don't have any problems with the newer worlds such as Empyrea- essentially I see it as looking more Empyrean as opposed to Dragonspyrian. If that makes sense. Basically, I don't think you'll have to worry and also there are the fact that you can adjust the settings for more performance based as opposed to graphics based. Good concern to point out though.

Conspiracy Theory:

SPOILER WARNING for Arc III (Polaris-Empyrea)

Renee Wooften is actually secretly working for the Bat. In Empyrea, we think that Bat is on our side working with us to help defeat his father, Grandfather Spider,- but he actually is trying to usurp his father as the Primordial Being of Shadow. He's employing Wooften and her goons to build an elaborate series of underground tunnels beneath Wizard City so that he can continue his foul plan to rewrite the Spiral into the Shadow Web.

The first phase of Bat's plan was executed by The Rat and it was to taint the magical waters flow in Wizard City. (The ones that feed the rivers of Triton Avenue, streams of Cyclops Lane and ice floes of Colossus Boulevard.) During this phase of the plan-Bat had disguised himself to look like Grandfather Spider and told Rat to poison the water saying that it would loosen the hold on the Sky Anchor. (The real Grandfather Spider's wanted Rat to focus on the Borealis Titan Research and was unaware that Bat had secretly used Rat to poison the Tree). The reason for this is, like all trees- Bartleby requires water and his roots go deep into the land to get that water. Since the water was tainted with Shadow Magic that is what made Bartleby ill when we first went to Polaris. This was extremely important because it weakens Bartleby for the next phase of the plan.

The tunnels that Wooften is building will allow Bat and his minions to graft a piece of Moros into Bartleby's Root system. Once Moros is able to take control of Bartleby in his weakened state Moros will hold the fate of the Spiral in his branches and Moros only answers to the most powerful of Shadow Magic users and that will be Bat. Wooften's tunnels are also being dug underneath the School and other buildings in Wizard City so that at a moments notice they can be collapsed and cause the buildings above them to crumble-trapping Ambrose and the other professors so that they can't try to help Bartleby.
