Ive been playing wizards for quite some time and im stil trying to understand things like gear stats and symbols etc.Il learn a lot from the messages boards but wondered is there a book that explains this game.
Also, if you go in game and open your spellbook. Click on the question mark, and go to the purple tab titled "interface" it will explain the symbols in even more detail.

Have you checked out any of the fansites? They have tons of information on just about anything in the game (spells, gear, etc.). Here is a link to one of them if you want to check it out. This link shows basic symbols:
