I heard that the kraken drops a jade oni, is this true, or should I not farm at all?

I do not see him on the list of dropping that pet.

No the Kraken doesn't drop it. The Jade Oni and Various bosses in the Midnight Sun Pagoda are the only places that drop it at your level. Malistaire and Mika Skarka later in the game drop it also.
