So I just hatched my frostfang and raised it to adult, but it seems to be getting it's grand parents traits ( it got the deer knight rises and may cast dragon blade). I don't mind the traits at all, but is there a way to see the traits from the pets that was hatched before my pet?

Each pet has 10 talent slots and 10 derby abilities. When you train up a level, one of each is unlocked, so at mega you have 5 talent and 5 abilities that count.

When you hatch, the baby gets a mix of any of the talent and ability slots from both parents, even the hidden ones. There's no way to know what was in the 'gene pool' of another player's pet unless they tell you, but you can keep track of your own.

Whenever I hatch a pet, I take a screen shot of the parents together in the hatcher. I save that in a folder, then add the 'full talent view' of the egg after hatching. Talents stay in the same order, so usually I can guess at most or all of the talents on the baby.

If you keep good records like that and fill in talents as you discover them, in time you'll know the pools of your pets.

This lists first generation pets (those you buy or get from packs, drops, or quests) with their known talents:

Pet hatching can seem very mysterious, but it's very rewarding once you get going. Best of luck :)
