What are fish useful for? Why would I want to catch fish? What is the point of fishing? No one has told me why.

Fish can be sold for gold. Fish are used in crafting recipes. Fish can be displayed in your home. Fishing awards badges. Fishing can yield the occasional treasure chest with gold, reagents and other goodies (pets too!) Fishing can be a fun activity when you just want to take a break from questing.
