In ancient times, the Titans of fire, ice, and storm fought among themselves. Their war caused the one world to be torn apart, creating the numerous island worlds that now make up the Spiral. Grandfather tree and Grandmother raven stepped in to stop the destruction, and caused the Titans to enter an enchanted sleep.
Wintertusk is the island world where Ymir, the Ice Titan, sleeps. It is ruled over by the Ymir's four sons, the Giant kings. The evil ravens wish to wake the Ice Titan and use his ice magic to rule the spiral, bringing on an age of never ending winter.
