Derby needs racers! Ideas to help...

Anyone who races knows that derby needs help. Lots of glitches, little change, and the waits are getting longer and longer. Derby isn't dead, but it could be getting there.

So, I thought a post here might get the message across to KI that there ARE people out there who care. And if they really want to do something about it, here are a few things that KI can do...

1. Please fix the glitches! The third lap glitch on MB, cutting the course, getting stuck on the podium – these flaws frustrate racers and they quit racing! And these have all been around since derby started!

2. New courses!! What about a Celestia themed course that is mostly water? Or…anything!

3. Give us a Leaderboard and tournaments, like PvP. Considering that Derby tournaments would run so much smoother than PvP tournaments makes it even more of a mystery why Derby didn’t get any.

4. Why can’t WE have spectator mode? Lead changes, photo finishes – derby races are SO exciting and only the racers get to see it. If others could see all the action that goes on during a race, people would line up to race!

5. Let us train our pet in PRACTICE, not ranked! So obvious. Why train a pet in RANKED? Forget that it takes CROWNS to do ranked (purchased a la carte or from a subscription) - if you are halfway serious about derby you wouldn't want to race a pet that still needs training in ranked anyway. You train a pet to make it better, and by allowing folks to feed pets in PRACTICE then you can kill two birds with one stone - the pet gets better and the racer gets better.

6. Give more items and "stuff" to wizards of certain derby rank. They kind of did that with Energy gear, which was nice, but more is needed. Specifically, unhatchable pets. Yes, it takes a boatload of tickets to get, say, a Crimson Spectre, but anyone who hatches with a Crimson Spectre has the chance to get one back. Make some pet out there like the FOG Unicorn, or Pioneer Dragon, or Sheep - unobtainable from a hatch.

7. What about a house with a practice Derby track! PvP has practice arenas, but those are so…boring. How about a house with a practice derby track that isn’t just race-able, but a customizeable! Based on rank, and tickets, you could purchase hurdles, stars, and surfaces to make your track unique.

So, am I missing anything? What else do you think KI could do to bring more players into Derby racing?

I just want to say that I absolutely love your ideas and agree that us that actually play Pet Derby are still stuck with the same tracks (glitches and all) from a VERY long time ago. Not to mention that we feel as though KI is neglecting us by giving all the cool new updates and features to PvP.

Even if KI used ONE of these ideas I think us that love and enjoy Pet Derby would feel better, and adding cool stuff to Pet Derby would also spark interest, thus bringing in more money to KI from all the new players now interested in it.

Great post

ACK! Forgot another idea that would be HUGE hit...

8. RELAY racing! You can Team PvP, why not Team race?! Up to 4 racers, each racer does one lap. How fun would that be!
