I fought Simon the Sayer and no items

i fought simon the sayer and did not receive a single item or the badge and got only 30 xp
is this a glitch?

The only ways this happens without a glitch are: 1. you died after he was killed and fled/returned to the battle or 2. your backpack and bank were both full.

you probably got a rare 1% chance of not receiving a item
