Metamorphosis Cards

New idea! Metamorphosis cards.

These cards are different and separate than "Polymorph" cards. Polymorph cards act like Transfiguration in Harry Potter books.

Metamorphosis cards would instead create the wizard into a new being, something in-between. For example, instead of Polymorphing into a fire drake (and losing much potential power that the wizard has), the Metamorphosis would give dragon scales and skin and a tail and protruding horns to the human wizard. This enhancement would allow the wizard to not just use fire-type magic, but to be a fire-type and become one with it.

Because these cards are transformative in nature, I think they should be placed within the Moon school of magic. This school is often overlooked and undervalued, and I think it could have a lot more potential.

When in the transformed state of a Metamorphosis card, your wizard would still mostly appear as your wizard, with the same clothes and human shape. Therefore you would still have access to your same equipment's stats and spells and health. What would change is that instead of needing to add enchantments and charms to everything (such as sun spell enchantments on spells to boost base damage, and positive charm enchantments such as sharpen blade or fire spear) these would automatically be implemented. Therefore, a wizard could not only save turns but combine the extra power with said sun spells and enchantments, doubling their power.

This would of course have to be restricted to very high future levels, possibly things like level 250 or above which we would see in the far future, but it would be a nice and creative way to enhance our existing spells without having to rely so much on shadow magic.

Let me know what you think!

P.S.
for other magic schools, the transformation could be something like the following:
Death School - wizard becomes pale and gaunt, with red eyes and dark shadows, and elongated fingernails or claws.
Life School: wizard takes on dryad-like appearance, with rough bark-like skin and leaves and branch-like twigs sprouting from the shoulders like pauldrons. Perhaps leaves for hair too.
Balance: wizard takes on Judgement-like appearance, growing long feathered brown judgement wings, and wearing a blindfold. Weapon could be appearance overridden to a set of scales.
Ice: wizard could take on a Ice Giant-like appearance, getting light ice blue skin and crystalline icicles for hair, with glowing blue otherworldly eyes.
Fire School: Red dragon scales for skin, dragon horns on head and a tail or leathery dragon wings (or both).
Storm School: Wizard takes on Triton or Siren-like appearance, their legs transforming into a fish tail. A shark tail would also be cool for male players. Maybe they could have a dorsal fin on their backs as well, and their weapon could have a Trident appearance override.

Combining enchants? That sounds a little too op in my opinion. Think of it this way, imagine a fire using ffa in pvp which usually does about 2.5k-3k with no blades and good gear. Now imagine that doubled, that could nearly kill a balance or life wizard and an ice wizard would be left with 1k health left.

Given the fact that we get one sometimes two level caps per year, discussing level 250 is extremely premature. Despite that, this does sound very interesting.

When the metamorphosis is in play, would you be allowed to use enchantments to further increase your damage?

How many rounds would this transformation be in play? Or is the change permanent?

Cost for this transformation? This is a big deal it can't be cheap.

Would there be a way to counter this change? For instance like supernova destroys auras?

I do very much like the boost in a particular school and the slight change in appearance to reflect it, while still keeping all your gear. Let's face it polymorphs are cute and fun but no one takes it seriously.

Maybe the metamorphosis can scale to your increasing level with a cap. The doubling point being this hypothetical level 250. Or maybe the higher your level the more features get added to your metamorphosis. 100 - all spells become enchanted with gargantuan, 110 - colossal, 120 - Unstoppable + gargantuan.....

Mr Talon,

Metamorphosis Cards would not break the current mechanics of the game. To put it simply, everything else would still function as it does now.

It would simply be a more powerful version of something like the Star School's Galvanic Field, Furnace, Reliquary, etc.

Keeping with the Moon school's theme of change, it would change the caster, but not entirely like a Polymorph. It would be a much more powerful "Polymorph", but in a hybridized state.

Kingsisle are the experts here, so I'm sure they'll tweak and alter it as need be. These are ideas for the future, to help utilize the Moon School better, and also allow much higher level wizards to make better use of their lower pip spells which were acquired in low levels to sort of "recycle" them and make them useful again, much in the way that Gargantuan makes things like Meteor useful again.
