Going away from "supporting the storm?"

What if the game had a bit more strategy involving the roles in a team. Maybe the Ice wizard with all its taunts would actually make use of said spells, soaking up the damage. Maybe the life wizard would be necessary in keeping the whole team alive. Like, each school should be able to serve a different purpose. To me it seems like you just "support" whoever hits the highest to one shot your enemies *cough* storm *cough*.

Storm is a good "hammer" in team situations, but most definitely not the only school capable of filling that role. Any school can be the hitter if set up correctly. Your issue might just be the people you're teaming up with. Storm is not the best hitter for every battle. In general teams have 4 roles, Tank, Support, Healer & Hammer. Any school can play any role when equipped properly. Obviously some are better suited to certain roles, like Life Healer, Ice Tank, Balance Support, Storm Hammer.

I have also noticed a trend towards the cheats for a given battle, punishing teams for NOT using a dedicated hitter and going for a one-hit kill.

Case in point: Barkingham Palace, middle dungeon. Chief Whip has a round of cheats that fires whenever he or a minion takes sublethal damage. This results in one or more 0-pip Rebirths on the team, resurrecting any minions that died that turn, plus adding a stacking absorb.

This is basically a reset situation, unless you have a hitter who can do 7k+ damage in one hit.

Another case in point: Aphrodite. Because of the cheats inherent in the tendrils taking damage, people are tempted to just have everyone spam their AOE, repeatedly. But the death tendril(s) will often use that as a trigger to launch repeated scarecrows, healing back up to full more often than not, and undo much of the work you have done. Pips wasted. Not to mention that some schools' strongest AOEs are in fact DOTs as well. Fire is limited to meteor or FFA, unless he wants to see the entire team swallowed up with colossal deer cheats.

In addition, Aphrodite is a spirit school thing. The only school that can normally achieve enough damage power to OHKO these guys, and not run afoul of the same-school resist issue AND the spammy dream shields, is storm. Ice would be a good choice if it could muster the damage output of a storm; sadly, the cost of ice's flagship AOE is inflated by the stun effect, which is useless against these tendrils.

Some day I would love to see a battle where storm is not, in fact, the best choice and that an AOE like scald or colossus is the perfect order for the day.
