Should this happen with Eirkir Axebreaker?

This is a minor issue really, but Im wondering what you all thought. Eirkir Axebreaker does the following:

440 Damage
-45% smoke screen to all enemies
+9% Armor Pierce to all allies

Now, if you cast this, and all the enemies die, the spell still fires off but all it does is give the Armor Piercing. My question is, do you feel this is acting properly or not? I can see both sides of the issue here. One the one side, YES it is acting properly because there is something the spell does that can still happen. On the other side, NO it is not acting properly because all the enemies are dead and so it shouldn't even cast.

Thoughts?

After effects that affect the surviving side always continue to cast after killing. There's no issue here. It's no different than player 2, 3, 4 casting blades and heals after player 1 already killed them all. The turn isn't over until it's over.
