I don't really know the answer to that but I do know that Drake translates to Dragon in Roman or Greek.

Dragons have been around a lot longer than the Drake family. So technically, the Drakes are named after the Dragons. (Yes, "Drake" simply means "Dragon".)

it is this way because dragonspyre is made after Rome or Greece for anyone who hasn't noticed the similarities in the names and buildings.
