I had the same issue.
To gain access to the hut you need to do the mossback quests in order:
1) Cave of Solitude
2) Kishibe Village
3) Shirataki Temple
4) Ancient Burial Grounds
I have done all of these in order and gained access to the hut but it still wont let me open the chest, I am working on that problem at this time.
Ya I have checked all the moss backs but it still wont let me into the Ancient Burrial rounds. It's frustrating. I sent in a bug for it but nothing has been done.
