It seems to me that all things being equal, going first in PvP is an advantage.

Is there any way in the game system to address this?
I've also noticed in 2 vs. 2 that the player who creates the match goes after the player who joined his/her team. Something to keep in mind when setting up spells.

Of course it does. In any competition where two teams have to choose who goes first, the one going first has first advantage. During the course of the competition the advantage can switch to the second team, based upon what transpires during the match.
