Boy, Kingsisle sure knows their Japanese history!
Why, do you ask?
The names of the bosses are parodies of the original. These original names have been slightly altered to be considered a part of Wizard 101.
Here is a list of names and their originals:
Nomoonaga- Nobunaga
Ideyoshi- Hideyoshi
Oyotomi- Toyotomi
Kakeda- Takeda
Tomugawa- Tokugawa
Toshio-Toshiie
Some of these names are leaders who had a hand in unifying Japan, while the others are noted clans.
These names all come from the Warring States period. If there are any names I fail to put in here, go ahead and post!

@Cottoneye37,

It's easter eggs, easter eggs, easter eggs all the way!

Nice application of serious Japanese history. Are you, by chance, yet another of us scholarly wizards?

To tell you the truth, I know these names from a video game. But a history book confirmed that the game had accurate history.
