Generally speaking, the monsters in this game that have an equivalent spell don't summon themselves for their basic attack. They just move to the middle of the duelling circle and swing away.
The exception to this, however, is trolls. They generally summon another troll to do their dirty work. Are they afraid of getting their hands dirty?
