how about that you can upgrade your gear to get new stats, like additional stun resist, extra health, etc. that can be upgraded 3 times. for a normal monster, the points could depend on the rank, add 3 for a elite, and 5 for a boss
it could work like this: lets take, um, soot stained tunic for a example. it gives you 40 health and +3% to fire. lets say you need 250 points to upgrade it the first time, and it has 245 points on it. so you destroy a gobbler muncher, a rank 2 elite, and get two points. then the tunic gets upgraded, so it does 5% more fire damage or something.

yeah, i know that, but what of you don't have the gold for better gear, and if you like what a item looks like but don't have the crowns to stitch
