What to do if your wizard can't move.

This question gets asked at least twice a week, so I'm making a topic about it. Perhaps the grand wizards will sticky their own topic.

There are dead spots at various places throughout the game, usually in caves or on sidewalks. The problem is very rare, but it does exist.

When the wizard stops for a few seconds on one of these dead spots, the character will freeze. It can't move in any direction. Sometimes the other menus will work, sometimes nothing will work. In a few cases, the game will freeze up the rest of the computer. If the user logs out and back in, the wizard will freeze again within a second or two, leading to the same problems.

Here's what to do:

1) Quit out of the game. This may be as easy as using Alt+F4, or it may in extreme cases require hard rebooting your computer (turning the power off and on).

2) Open the game again and choose the character that froze.

3) Hit Play . As soon as you do this, start tapping quickly on either the Up-Arrow ( ? ) or W key (whichever you use to move forward) and keep tapping on it until you see your wizard appear in the game and move forward.

You should now be unfrozen and able to continue.

Sometimes your player will get stuck in the street (The Dark Cave is particularly notorious for this) and can still battle, but can't move when the battle is over. Logging back into the game will often find the wizard in another battle and the same problem. In this case, finish the battle and immediately teleport to the Commons, Home, or to a mark.
