Play should stop after one team attacks, and then the other team should be able to choose their move. The way it is now, the team that goes first has a distinct advantage with many things. They know if they have a "dispell" blade on them before they attack, they know whether the other team has shields or not, they know if they need to heal because of what the other team has just done to them, and so on. If you go second all of these things can change when the other team gets their turn and there is nothing you can do about it.
It would slow the duels a little, but if play stopped after the first teams attack and then the second team chose their actions throughout the battle, it would almost eliminate the going first buis.

I completely agree! I tried explaining this exact idea in another post I made, but nobody commented on it. I do think the other team gets the advantage when they go first.
